It’s crucial for sales staff to get continuous ongoing feedback in all aspects of their job (peers and clients) - that is the only way they can grow their selling skills in my opinion i.e. seeing things from a different perspective goes a long way.

1. Tell us about the highlights of your Sales career to date:

I’ve been working in the Telco industry for over 7 years now across three different sales roles. I first started managing a team of 4 sales reps but now oversee a team of  30+ sales reps which I really enjoy. It’s fantastic to see great salespeople develop and hone their skills - this is why we have a strong company culture around training development.

2. Why did you choose to enter the world of sales?

After leaving school, I decided I did not want to go to university - I began working in a customer service job. I quickly decided that was not for me and my friend at the time was working in a sales rep position with a mobile phone company. I liked the idea of making a commission and the rest is history!

3. What is it you love most about working in the sales industry and why?

The People - it’s rewarding to see sales reps progress through the managerial ranks and I’m delighted to have a number of my colleagues achieve this over the years.

4. Are there any important tips you would give to sales professionals looking to take their careers to the next level?

I think a positive mindset goes a long way in sales. Also it’s crucial for sales staff to get continuous ongoing feedback in all aspects of their job (peers and clients) - that is the only way they can grow their selling skills in my opinion i.e. seeing things from a different perspective goes a long way.

5. What would be your motivational advice to salespeople that are going through a bit of a slump?

Sales can often be a complete roller coaster - one moment you are top of the board, the next - your sales can be dryer than the safari desert. However a consistent work ethic and an impulse to be curious at every step of the sales cycle which help quickly overcome any sales slump.

6. Do you recommend any useful digital sales tools, platforms or sales training courses that can help sales professionals raise their games?

I’m a big fan of Hubspot software and have used Salesforce in a previous role which is also an excellent CRM to help increase sales results.

7. In your opinion, what are the 3 most important traits that make salespeople successful?

Persistence, Work-Ethic and Curiosity.

8. What do you feel will be the future key trends that sales professionals need to adapt to and be ready for?

Continuous ongoing learning, training and feedback are some big trends that more and more companies are starting to implement.
